Carrots...

What, did I get some on my face?

solids, Solids, SOLIDS!

You're sure you wanna put this in my mouth?

Okay, but I want to help...

I LIKE IT!

And after a some good bites I let him play in it, cause what better way to learn?

Alright so I am one of those mom's who likes to follow "the rules" when it comes to my baby. Rules? you may ask... like no stuffed animals in cribs, no bumpers on cribs, try to do lots of tummy time you know those kind. Now I can't say I follow them all precisely but I like to. One I was very insistent on following was no solids till six months. I'm glad I did cause there poor boy seems to be having some bowel issues since starting the cereal and what not. Not like full on constipation (tmi? tough luck) but still, issues.

So anywho, we have been going on solids for about a week now, we started with a little rice cereal, which he loves. And things have been going relatively fine. Yesterday and Tuesday were frustrating to say the least, but today was much better. So far he has had baby rice and oat cereal, a little banana (he hated that so far) and carrots (first day of that was a bust, today was great). He has also started drinking water out of a cup.

I had heard lots of people mention that their baby's sleep way better once on solids, my mother tried to convince me to start him earlier on solids to get him to sleep longer. But honestly I haven't noticed that much of a difference in his sleeping habits. We still have good nights, and bad nights. And the napping in the day definitely hasn't changed. I also find him to be more clingy than ever, like doesn't even like to go to Jared. Kinda mostly frustrating, I love my boy, but sometimes my arms are seriously killing me, and I need a break.

I really have enjoyed the beginning of solids so far. I'm excited to introduce new foods and see his reaction, and see what his food preferences are. I am going to try to explore lots of veggies at first with a few fruits like banana's and pears. But I really want him to enjoy a variety of textures and flavours. I think the best way to do it is slowly, one thing at a time, even though really I want to like give him 3 different foods in one day. I will try to contain myself to maybe 3-4 different kinds every 2 weeks maybe. And have his cereal be a consistent meal, and then new and fun things every few days as add ons.

So far he seems to be enjoying solids, and the mess that comes with it.

6 Months

Mr. Magoo is 6 months old, can you believe it?
So currently Magoo is 17 pounds 1.7 ounces 50th percentile.
His head I think is 45cm (I could be wrong) but it definitely measures in the 95th percentile.
Length measured about 26 3/4 inches, which is about 75th percentile.

Things Magoo can do:
Sit up on his own, roll around, go in circles on his tummy, and kinda somewhat army crawl, he is very close to crawling he's just gotta figure out those arms. He loves peek-a-boo, and round and round the garden. He likes to go outside but touching the grass with anything other than his hands freaks him out.

He is an overall very happy baby, and we love him!

oh and we started him on solids this past Friday, pictures to come soon.

That's gotta Hurt.

So I feel like I will be repeating this title sometime in the future since I gave birth to a little boy. Magoo got his first goose egg today that had a nice bruise with it.

How? You might ask did this sweet little thing cause...
this?

Well lets just say Kendal, one of Magoo's cousins came over to play today. It was definitely a accident, I don't think Kendal even knows now what exactly happened. She was just playing and Magoo was lying right under her when she threw "Jesse" to the ground.

And luckily he didn't know exactly how he got an instant headache either cause he still had a good play date with her.
But we didn't end up going to the later play date we had planned with some friends. It was obvious he was not in the best of moods later.

Come back to visit, Magoo's 6 month check up is on Friday! And I will hopefully remember to post up all his stats...

Mamamamama

Sometimes I swear Magoo knows he is calling to me when he makes noises, and I like to pretend that he knows what the sound Mama means. But lets be honest here....
never mind, is much more fun to pretend.

But this post is not about me even though I am a Mother. But this post is about my Mama.

When ever I see a picture like this I always think of my mother. Tulips are her favourite, naturally. But it's not just Tulips that make me think of her, its wooden shoes, and windmills, fresh made bread, and cream of wheat, the song "Imagin" done by Eva Cassidy, long sincere prayers, journals, chocolate, service, "strength of an Ox", chocolate sheet cake, a good meal, a warm hug, a well needed head message, gouda cheese, a clean house, the song "Love at Home", gardens and raspberry bushes, and so many other things. But the thing that reminds me most of my Mom is Home.

Thanks Mom, Happy Mothers Day. You deserve the best and I love you.
