We be packin'

Packing boxes that is.
We have decided to move, again... I feel like I just did this less than a year ago, oh wait I did!
Although I would love to say we are moving back to Alberta, we are not, we are just moving to a different part of Regina.

We feel like it is a better choice for us. We will be right across from the University, and will NOT have our neighbours fumes entering our apartment (at the moment we are getting a lot of second hand smoke in our apartment... and our rental company won't do anything about it!), and (this is the best part) I will have my own washer and dryer!!! Definitely a plus in our books, especially when we have a new babe coming this summer.

We have some friends who just so happen to live in the original apartment buildings we tried to get into when we first moved here. They are also the most impossible ones to get into, there is just a very high demand for them for location reasons. But our friends happen to be moving back to Alberta (lucky ducks!) and so we are taking over their apartment. And since it is with the same company we rent with now it doesn't affect our lease! So we will be packing and cleaning in the next 2 weeks...

The only down side to this move, we feel, is that we will have to switch wards. I have really grown to know and love the ward we're in. For the first time ever since I've been married, and I am nervous that I will have a harder time making that connection in the new ward. But I keep reminding myself of two things: 1. I can still have friendships with people in "the old ward", and 2. This is temporary. Regina has always been temporary for us, we like trying new things, but so far we love Alberta, and have not found somewhere that feels quite like 'home' as Alberta does.

So fun times, and if you want to come help us move please do! As this pregnant lady will be limited in her lifting capacity. I'm pretty sure Jared might have a hard time moving our desk, beds, couches etc. by himself.

Firsts...

So last week I teased about not divulging the gender until the newest little nugget was born. But we decided it would be fun to tell people. So if you are friends on FB with me then you probably already know. But I thought I should put it up on here as well.

So we went for our ultrasound this past Thursday, and our little baby was being so active.

So something totally new and fun this time around was that we got some 3D views as well. And if you ask me, for an ultrasound pic, this little one is already looking pretty cute. Especially for still having 19ish weeks to continue to grow and develop! But don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

And we got some 2D's as well.

(foot, the rest are pretty obvious)

So I had planned to take some cute pictures with gender specific balloons to reveal what is growing in there. But lets just face it I am too lazy. I might still take some just later down the road. But according to the Ultrasound we will be expecting a...

GIRL!

and we are all excited (even if Magoo doesn't know it yet, he is totally excited). I didn't think I cared what this came out as, and I think I kinda wanted a boy just for the ease of things. But turns out my heart skipped a beat when we heard "girl".

And just for the record Jared is 2:2, and I am 0:2, so much for a mothers intuition. But this one has been so similar to Mr. Magoo's pregnancy I had thought the difference in gender would make some big difference in pregnancy as well, and turns out for me it doesn't! So Yay! But I am very grateful that Jared hasn't been a gloater in this respect, he is very thoughtful.

So I guess now I should probably get started on all those cute sewing projects I pinned on Pinterest...

Confessions

So I realize that the majority of my posts have been about Mr. Magoo in the last like year and a half. But that's truly what my life consists of. Well I thought that it would be nice to do a post that had a different topic. Now some might not be interested, but stop reading at your own risk this time...

So Jared and I are HUGE night time snackers! Once the boy is in bed we put cookies in the oven (mmmm warm roll cookies...) and eat ice cream. We are huge supporters or DQ and all it's 'cool treat' goodness. There are somedays when I think twice about snacking during the day, especially on stuff like chocolate, chips, and candy, cause I know that I will almost always give into treats at night. I mean really it's the only time I don't have to share them with a one year old.

Well anyone who has seen me recently can attest to what all this night time snacking has done for my shape these days. And I have got one serious gut on me lately. To which I say, I am soooooo glad the the weather is finally nice, because playing outside in the snow with a 11-16 monther was NOT my idea of fun, we did it, but not often. I LOVE to go out to play when it's nice out though. Plus I am so ready to break my pedal bike outta storage and ride all day with Magoo. Jared on the other hand is so ready to get his motorbike outta storage, if that doesn't say something about how different out metabolisms are I don't know what will...

So I guess the point of this story is: if you see me in the near future please be kind as I am working on 'the belly' situation and am hoping that by August I will have lost some serious weight, I think that is a realistic goal.

Perhaps even August 22, I think that is a great due date dead line for such hefty goals...
I mean I have been working on 'the belly' for about 20 weeks now, I think I should give myself at least that much time to work on it a little more...

.... do you still not understand what exactly I am getting at?

(Me right now at 20 weeks...)

On the right: me at 19 weeks with Magoo, on the left: me at 19 weeks with the new babe.

That's right! We are expecting baby #2 in August, and we are pretty excited for it. I go for my ultrasound next week. So maybe you'll find out the sex then, or maybe I'll make you wait another 20 weeks. haha. I know I'll be finding out in a week as long as the little hooligan cooperates...

wishing...

(Des' wedding Jan 2009)
Okay, see this girl. We have been pretty tight since about the time I was 16, she was 15.
Well she had a baby last night!
And I am so wishing I was there right now no hold her new little boy and listen to the story of his birth. But it will have to wait I guess. And Skype will have to do.

But seriously it's a good thing Elder Holland gave this talk at conference on Saturday about not being jealous or envious cause that is my first reaction when I hear others get to go visit her. But I have now chosen it is better be be happy for them, and for her as visitors are always nice!

Good luck with your recovery Des, I look forward to getting to chat with you when you are back at home!

Oh and if anyone is wondering they named him Oakley Dallin, how cute is that!? I love it!

if I were a Fly...

Tonight marks the first night Mr. Magoo is sleeping in a 'big boy' bed.
He had been so good and quite for the first 25 min, all I wanted to be was a fly on the wall to see what he was doing in there, but I resisted.
Well about 5 min ago his little diaper bum came running into the living room, I walked him back to his bed, he showed his cute little face another time and I told him to get back in bed.
He is currently playing with his bedroom door.
I will be shutting his door around in the next 10 min or so if he doesn't stay in his room.

I'll have to let you know how it goes, but any tips from Mom's who have done this before feel free to share, as I am not frustrated yet, and hope that I never reach that point.

What worked for you when introducing a 'free escape' bed?

Also we are in the process of cutting molars, and he's been pretty good actually. But my advice, frozen grapes, seriously they have done the trick plus their not as sugary as freezes!

23 pounds and a New View

So for some reason I had thought that I read somewhere that you should keep your child rear facing until they are 40 lbs... crazy right!? Well yesterday I decided to look it up again, and found it said you could switch to forward facing once they are 22 lbs and able to walk unassisted, check and check. Mr. Magoo is over 23 lbs at the moment. So yesterday we did the flip!

At first this was the look he had on his face, and watched very intently to what I was doing...

then once Dad got in the car and started playing games with him, he was loving it.

All three of us are Loving this new view. I love being able to see and help my little man better, and I'm pretty sure Mr. Magoo is loving being able to see us and what is going on. And if nothing else Jared just loves how happy this new arrangement makes me.

Next up, taxes. I have always just done ours myself online with H & R block. But this year its feeling like a more daunting task. That's why it isn't done yet... plus I am having a hard time getting some of the tax forms I need from some people in Lethbridge.

Anyone want to do them for me.... maybe?

Rio-obsessed...

Have you ever seen the movie "Rio"? It's all about the last two blue macaws that are brought together to 'save their race', but before they can they are stolen by smugglers, and so now these macaws have to get back to safety before they are smuggled out of Rio de Janeiro. There is a lot of colours, music, and great messages throughout the movie.  Plus it's on Netflix!

Yesterday was the first day in about a week (or probably more) that we Didn't watch some (or probably all) of "Rio"... As I type this Magoo is sitting entranced watching "The Birds" as it is called in our house. Also needless to say I have the very catchy songs stuck in my head morning, noon, and night.

We caught a little video of Magoo's typical reaction when we turn on his favourite movie. Filled with signing "bird" and dancing!
