wishing...

Okay, see this girl. We have been pretty tight since about the time I was 16, she was 15.

Well she had a baby last night! 

And I am so wishing I was there right now no hold her new little boy and listen to the story of his birth. But it will have to wait I guess. And Skype will have to do.

But seriously it's a good thing Elder Holland gave this talk at conference on Saturday about not being jealous or envious cause that is my first reaction when I hear others get to go visit her. But I have now chosen it is better be be happy for them, and for her as visitors are always nice! 

Good luck with your recovery Des, I look forward to getting to chat with you when you are back at home! 

Oh and if anyone is wondering they named him Oakley Dallin, how cute is that!? I love it!

if I were a Fly...

Tonight marks the first night Mr. Magoo is sleeping in a 'big boy' bed. 

He had been so good and quite for the first 25 min, all I wanted to be was a fly on the wall to see what he was doing in there, but I resisted.

Well about 5 min ago his little diaper bum came running into the living room, I walked him back to his bed, he showed his cute little face another time and I told him to get back in bed. 

He is currently playing with his bedroom door.

I will be shutting his door around in the next 10 min or so if he doesn't stay in his room. 

I'll have to let you know how it goes, but any tips from Mom's who have done this before feel free to share, as I am not frustrated yet, and hope that I never reach that point.

What worked for you when introducing a 'free escape' bed?

Also we are in the process of cutting molars, and he's been pretty good actually. But my advice, frozen grapes, seriously they have done the trick plus their not as sugary as freezes!

23 pounds and a New View

So for some reason I had thought that I read somewhere that you should keep your child rear facing until they are 40 lbs... crazy right!? Well yesterday I decided to look it up again, and found it said you could switch to forward facing once they are 22 lbs and able to walk unassisted, check and check. Mr. Magoo is over 23 lbs at the moment. So yesterday we did the flip!

At first this was the look he had on his face, and watched very intently to what I was doing...

 then once Dad got in the car and started playing games with him, he was loving it. 

All three of us are Loving this new view. I love being able to see and help my little man better, and I'm pretty sure Mr. Magoo is loving being able to see us and what is going on. And if nothing else Jared just loves how happy this new arrangement makes me.

Next up, taxes. I have always just done ours myself online with H & R block. But this year its feeling like a more daunting task. That's why it isn't done yet... plus I am having a hard time getting some of the tax forms I need from some people in Lethbridge. 

Anyone want to do them for me.... maybe?

Rio-obsessed...

                                                      

Have you ever seen the movie "Rio"? It's all about the last two blue macaws that are brought together to 'save their race', but before they can they are stolen by smugglers, and so now these macaws have to get back to safety before they are smuggled out of Rio de Janeiro. There is a lot of colours, music, and great messages throughout the movie.  Plus it's on Netflix!

Yesterday was the first day in about a week (or probably more) that we Didn't watch some (or probably all) of "Rio"... As I type this Magoo is sitting entranced watching "The Birds" as it is called in our house. Also needless to say I have the very catchy songs stuck in my head morning, noon, and night. 

We caught a little video of Magoo's typical reaction when we turn on his favourite movie. Filled with signing "bird" and dancing!

Bye Bye Winter Blues!

 This past Friday was a beautiful day out, there was fresh snow everywhere but it was relatively nice. We had such a great time.

 Yesterday was another great day, but seriously only about 5 days since our last venture outside and the snow is pretty much melted. Although I am almost certain that it was a bit chillier out yesterday than on Friday. But we did see Canadian Geese in the sky yesterday, which to me is such a huge sign of spring!

I have fully prepared myself that there may be a few more snow falls before spring truly arrives, as we do live in Canada. But this is definitely cutting it for me at the moment. Jared on the other hand is praying its spring so he can get his motorbike on the road!

Also in the last couple weeks I read 'the Hunger Games' trilogy. Totally my kind of read, I loved them and am excited to see the movie coming out. Hopefully I can find a babysitter at some point so I can see it in the theatre. I think Jared is glad I am finally done, he kept looking at how many pages I had left, hoping to get his wife back, seriously I could not put them down. I get so involved in a good book.

One tough little dude...

The below picture is not the best, but the toy Magoo is pushing around is often under his bum while he 'rides' around our living room.

What happens when your kids ride toys that weren't meant for that function?

Well the toy bucked Magoo right off and into our tv stand... I was honestly scared of what I would see when I flipped him over, the noise was so loud and he was in so much pain. I was expecting blood everywhere! Luckily we got away with a scratch that didn't even bruise. 

 But when Jared heard and saw the results he decided it was probably time to get him a toy meant to ride around...

 Can you tell he loves it!? Although at the moment its more like a 'Mommy push me around in this thing..." for some reason he doesn't care to walk it around himself, but really can you blame him?

Also just a little brag here: 

prelude:(So anyone who knows me well knows my absolute hate for needles. As a kid I was seriously phobic of them, it brought me many moments of tears and embarrassment.)

So Magoo has been terribly sick this past week, the most ill he's ever been in fact. Throwing up, diarrhea, lethargic, the works. He didn't want to eat or drink anything and I was getting worried, so our doc sent us to get a blood work up among other stuff to make sure he wasn't dehydrated. 

Well my boy just sat there calmly on my lap and watched them do the whole thing. They stuck him in the arm to draw blood, and he didn't even flinch or cry. And at one point the blood just wasn't flowing into the vial for them so they had to move the needle around (this was the point I got a little light headed, but I'll have you know I was able to keep my cool). He was a total champ and made his Momma proud! I went in there expecting the worse, and totally had a good experience with it (as impossible as that sounds). Even the lab techs were impressed with how good he was. He definitely inherited his fathers tolerance for needles thank goodness.

In Alberta

Okay so I am no longer in Alberta, but I was just there for almost 2 weeks. Magoo and I were very lucky and got to take a little trip there just for the sake of visiting and having fun with family. And boy did we have fun! Lot's of shopping, playing in the snow, and eating. 

Aunt Robyn showed us a great place to eat "Colonel Mustards" on 124 street. Then we walked down to "Duchess" Bakery a few blocks away. It's a good thing we walked, that bakery is almost too good to be true.

Magoo had lots of fun 'helping' G-Lo work outside. He loved the rides on the tractor.

Mr. Magoo was so good on the tractor G-Lo let him drive it up onto the trailer himself!

 We even got a special visit from my very pregnant friend Des. Just one month left till their baby boy changes their whole world. 

I wish I would have taken more pictures while we were there, but I am finding that as Magoo gets older the less pictures I have been taking. We took the long way back to Regina so we could go down to Lethbridge and visit my brother Colter and his family, and we also stopped in Bow Island. I have an Aunt and Uncle who live there, plus my brother Dallin is living with them right now, so we thought it would be good to spend some time with him too. We were suppose to get to Regina on Saturday but because of the crazy winter storm that rolled in we didn't get there till Monday. We had a really great time and I'm pretty sure Magoo would live at Nanna Jo and G-Lo's house full time if he could. 

Unfortunately since being home my laundry has been growing by the minute, and I have a very grumpy but cuddly boy. I don't think he has ever been this sick before, the doc is treating him for an ear infection. Hopefully the medication kicks in fast.
